More engrave settings for personal devices, Enterprise Wi-Fi in beta, and faster camera

Engrave settings for Pixel 2, Surface, and iPhone (beta)

Our MacBook Pro Silver engrave setting was such a hit, we’re adding more! You’ll soon find engrave settings for the Pixel 2, Surface, and iPhone as presets in the materials drop-down, where they will appear listed by device type and color:

Like our first device engrave setting, these are unsupported beta releases. That means any engraving you do is entirely at your own risk: it could come out poorly, it could land in the wrong location, it could void the warranty of your device, or it could damage your device. As with all prints, watch carefully and do not leave your Glowforge unattended while printing.

Some additional things to keep in mind:

  • When working with a MacBook or iPhone, avoid engraving over the Apple logo
  • When working with a Pixel 2, make sure to place your engraving between the camera and the certification marks at the bottom
  • When working with a Surface, be aware that the engraving results will be different between the kickstand and the body of the device

Because this is in beta, the support team can’t help you, but if you’d like to compare notes head to this forum thread.

Enterprise Wi-Fi (beta)

For those of you working in an education or business setting, we’ve got good news! Thanks to your feedback, we’re adding support for Enterprise Wi-Fi so that you’ll be able to connect your Glowforge directly to your organization’s network. Our new update now supports some of the most commonly used authentication methods.

If you’re not sure which authentication method your work or school network uses, check with your IT department. Note that Wi-Fi networks that require users to view and interact with a web page before being granted access (typically used by airports, hotel lobbies, and other venues that offer free Wi-Fi hotspots) are not yet supported.

Enterprise Wi-Fi support will download and install this week when you power on your printer. Because this is a beta release, this is not yet covered by our Customer Success team. For more information and to see which authentication methods are now supported, head to this forum thread.

Faster camera

We've made some adjustments to the camera to make it even faster to go from idea to creation. Say cheese!
