Glowforge is a beautiful device that sits on your desk. It uses a laser to carve and engrave products from raw materials like wood, leather, acrylic – even cardboard.

If you haven’t already, check out our video on While you’re there, you’ll notice something amazing: Glowforge is the largest crowdfunding campaign in history!

There is an incredible demand for what we’re creating. It’s not a savvy tool for the tech elite or a garage workshop; we’re crafting an iconic product that is going to change the way people think about creativity. Our customers include consumers, digital designers, crafters, engineers, teachers, artists, and more.

This is a full-time role. We are a remote-first company, but most of your team will be based in Seattle.

Why We Need You

You know how companies get things made: factories, container ships, logistics, and legions of experts. Our products are no different. But there’s one thing that’s completely different. Owning your own Glowforge means that that world of manufacturing is turned upside down: our product lets everyone create things from their own desktop. No longer do you need to be a company: Glowforge owners bring products into the world with a thought, the push of a button, and a few minutes of magic. But our customers only have it easy because you are working so hard for them. None of this can work without your passion, experience, and expertise. Our singular focus is delivering the best possible product to our customers, as quickly as we can. The Head of Supply Chain Operations will be at the heart of this effort.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

You will be the hands-on leader of the team that architects, implements and operates a world class supply chain to deliver Glowforge magic. You will select the logistics partners that meet our quality, timing and pricing goals. You and your team will monitor all manufacturing forecasts and ensure that materials are always in stock. You’re the person with the deepest and most intuitive understanding of our manufacturers’ production and demand patterns, and the inventory requirements that result. You’ll use your insights along with production data and statistical analysis to improve predictability and reduce costs without sacrificing our customers’ expectations, including production schedules, warehousing, delivery methods and scheduling. You’ll also coordinate logistical regulatory compliance, including import/export compliance. Finally, this role is a key enabler to integrate our business processes and IT systems, so that if any problem should sneak through, it’s discovered immediately, fixed expeditiously, and prevented from ever happening again. Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize and maintain our company’s supply chain and fulfillment to continually meet our production and quality requirements
  • Work closely with other functions to deliver new products to market balancing quality, time, and cost.
  • Continually improve our product’s reliability and quality by always seeking higher quality components and finding creative methods to drive costs down for our customers
  • Develop an outstanding team to accomplish these objectives

You need these qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain management
  • 5+ years being fully responsible for a global supply chain for electronics
  • Significant hands-on involvement, running daily operations, selection of logistics vendors and IT supply chain system implementations
  • Understanding of GAAP as related to inventory management (COGS, FIFO, Data Cost Sets, etc)
  • Experience negotiating and partnering with top-level executives, both internally and externally
  • Proven leadership skills - experience building and leading teams during periods of rapid growth and change

It would be nice if…

  • You have experience with retail, B2C and/or consumer electronics
  • You have experience at a high-growth startup
