Glowforge is a beautiful device that sits on your desk. It uses lasers to carve and engrave gorgeous products from raw materials like wood, leather, acrylic – even cardboard.
There is an incredible demand for what we’re creating. It’s not a geeky tool for the tech elite or a garage workshop; we’re crafting an iconic product that is going to change the way people think about creativity. Our customers include consumers, digital designers, crafters, engineers, teachers, artists, and more. It’s already the biggest crowdfunding campaign in history, and now that it’s available at retail, the fun is really starting.
This is a full-time role in Seattle, and we are happy to help new employees relocate to this beautiful city.

We have a team of caring, dedicated, and gifted individuals who are singularly united to help our customers. Unfortunately this team is too often blocked in their ability to provide care by the lack of readily accessible, clear and logically structured information. Our company will depend on you to solve this by owning the effort to write, edit and organize our internal documents, so we can provide excellent support to our customers.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
We support a community of builders, makers and creators. This means that when they have a problem, many pride themselves in being able to solve the problems themselves. Others immediately reach out for help, but all of them expect and deserve clear information that can help them navigate their challenges. What does that mean for you? You are the one responsible for making sure that the content we provide is clear, accurate and helpful.
Once you join Glowforge, you will dive in deep with our experts to learn about Glowforge, our brand voice, our customers, and Customer Success. This learning will expand your understanding so that you can write with empathy, clarity and accuracy.
You will pore over our content and then write or rewrite content that allows our team to better support our customers and for our customers to use to help themselves.
You're going to get a steady stream of fascinating data back about how your writing has performed and you will use that to continually hone not just your own writing but the voice of others, as you infuse what you learn into the organization.
You need these qualifications
- You have a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the role, or equivalent experience.
- You have 5+ years of experience working as a writer with at least 2 years of experience editing and proofreading other people’s writing.
- You’ve written compelling content for consumers and/or for consumer-facing teams.
- You’re skilled at making technical information approachable and understandable to a broad audience.
It would be nice if you...
- have startup experience.
- have written in a broad variety of voices and styles. love making things - knitting, woodworking, 3D printing, furniture building, it doesn’t matter what!
