This is a full-time role in Seattle, and we are happy to help new employees relocate to this beautiful city.

Why we need you

Our team is growing and you will join to help grow and scale our legal team. You will work closely with the general counsel to support Glowforge in its growth and next phases. You will be a senior leader on the legal team, helping craft the culture and set the standard for legal excellence on the team. You will be able to innovate, help build a best in class legal team, and tackle complex and exciting legal challenges. You will be crucial to our cornerstone of “delight our customers, present and future.” You will play an integral role in partnering with the business to innovate strategically, build something amazing, while protecting the company, and setting a standard for a best in class legal team.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

You will be managing all legal aspects of Glowforge’s IP portfolio, overseeing data privacy, and providing legal expertise related to stock equity. As with any small legal team, you will also be a bit of a generalist, you will also handle miscellaneous projects, vendor agreements, or help tackle any other legal challenge that comes our way. As part of its senior leadership, you will also be helping create the culture and set the standard for excellence on our legal team.

You need these qualifications

You must have a J.D. degree and be a member in good standing of at least one state bar.

You must have at least 10 years of relevant experience in a combination of the following substantive areas:

  • IP
  • Data Privacy
  • Legal advice related to equity
  • Product Counsel work - being embedded with the engineering side of a business

You will also have the ability to handle miscellaneous other general legal work, as needed.

It would be nice if

  • You have experience as in-house counsel
  • You have experience negotiating/redlining vendor agreements
  • You have experience at a start-up
  • You have experience providing securities advice
  • You have experience with corporate law and advising on corporate matters
